The Footbonaut - Ball Feeding Machine

The Footbonaut is a ball feeding machine erected on a 14 metre square grid which is the brainchild of Berlin-based designer Christian Guttler. The player who needs to brush up on his reaction time and ball control enters the arena and takes his place in a centre circle.

From then the ball is randomly fed in to him, at a variety of heights. It is then the player in question's task to control the ball and deliver it to one of 64 targets within the cube, signified by the lighting up of a square.

The action is filmed and analysed instantly on an iPad application.

Footbonaut has been in full use at Borussia Dortmund since March, and has also been used for rehabilitation training for injured first team and youth players
